2023 Petit Frere

100% Syrah

Our 2023 PF is 100% Syrah from a combination of 4 separate vineyard blocks. It is very reminiscent of our first Petit Frere in 2002, which is remarkably alive today. The long cool growing season was followed by dry moderate harvest weather resulting in extended "hang time" for the fruit, which rendered darker color, more intense fruit and great tannins structure. 2023 is already being heralded as one of the great vintages in the past 20 years. Not surprisingly this 2023 is off the charts - one to drink every day and for many years to come, as it has the structure to age well for the next 5-6 years.
